I am Andrew Kordek, the only actual human at Email Nucleus. The other ten are fictitious marketers and companies in various verticals to entertain, educate, or provide humor to this crazy email marketing world.
My love for email is more than a passion; it's an obsession. Over the past 24 years, I've achieved the coveted “email trifecta” by working on the client, agency, and vendor sides. This extensive experience is a testament to my deep understanding of the email marketing landscape.
Client Side: I have worked at and optimized programs for Groupon (one of the first 130 people), Sears & Kmart, and Quest Software for over nine years. I learned that email was different everywhere and became heavily involved in the email community. Heck,I was doing segmentation and personalization before it became part of being the cool kids.
Agency Side: Together with a team, I co-founded Trendline Interactive, a pioneering force in the email industry. We became the world’s largest independent email agency, with over 200 full-time email employees and nearly $30M in revenue in 10 years. As Chief Strategist, I collaborated with our clients on their most significant and complex programs, creating optimization strategies that drove incremental revenue. I had the privilege of hiring and working with some of the most talented email professionals in the world.
Vendor Side: At iPost, I took on the role of running all client services, support, and marketing. Over three years, we achieved a renewal rate of over 95%, underwent a complete rebrand, and transformed our support team into a key differentiator. Once again, I had the honor of leading and retaining some of the best email talent in the industry.
If you want to learn more, please visit my LinkedIn profile and read the 58 recommendations of industry colleagues who can attest to my commitment to doing the right thing every time. While I am humbled to be called a “thought leader” or one of the Top 5 email marketers in the world, my insane curiosity to learn and adapt makes me a student of this craft.
This site is not just another resource. It's a platform designed to challenge traditional learning methods for marketers by adding a unique element of story-based insights from the brand side. There's no corporate agenda here, just raw, unfiltered stories that I'm confident will change how you perceive email marketing.
It’s not about pushing products or slanting posts. It's about marketers teaching other marketers, and that's the ethos of this newsletter. Your learning and growth are at the heart of what we do here.
Andrew Kordek, Human. Founder.
This is Email Nucleus, a one-of-a-kind email marketing newsletter written entirely from the brand marketers' point of view. Almost every single blog post, webinar, whitepaper, case study, conference, and podcast has a corporately controlled message to sell you something. Email marketing content today is usually slanted by the vendor or agency side, and people with minimal experience try to tell you how to run your email program. Then, to add insult to injury, the content produced offers minimal context to brand-side marketers on how actually to pull it off. This is why Email Nucleus now exists: to provide email strategy through brand-centric storytelling so that marketers today can relate to and learn.
We’ll dish up a juicy new story from one of the fictional characters and brands each week. There are ten companies that have ten unique characters to love/hate/disagree with and cheer on as they tell you about their unique ways of running email programs in today’s world. Then, at the end of every story, Andrew Kordek (see his experience here or in Meet The Authors) will offer CORE insights, inspiring you on the next steps to take or not take.
This newsletter is free to subscribe to (ad-supported), and I hope that if you like what you see, you will tell anyone who can benefit from taking five minutes a week to laugh, agree, disagree, and/or fight with another about whether or not he/she is doing something that you can relate to.
